A Decade of Experience
Lived abroad and taught ESL in South Korea and China before moving to Academic Advising. In South Korea I worked for a small language school and taught students in grades 3-8, English speaking, writing and reading. As well as developed the curriculum for Basic, Intermediate and Advanced language books.
In China I taught in the Bridging program, getting students ready for English 10 and other high school courses. Working along with the English 10 department to build the best course material. As an Academic Advisor, oversaw the scheduling of over 300 students and prepared seniors for graduation and college applications. Also was a key member of the administration's conduct committee, catching at-risk students early and providing support for betterment though regular 1:1 check-ins and coordination with their subject teacher.
As an Education Counselor for active duty soldiers at Fort Drum, I provided college and career counseling as the soldiers thought about and chose their college course path and helped match it to their careers. I also gave the 'In-processing' brief to soldiers new to Fort Drum as an orientation to the Education Center's services but also to inform them on updates about their tuition benefits.
